Equality is An Old American Myth

I’m not saying it shouldn’t exist, only that it isn’t as prevalent or as common as the powers that be would have us believe.

When you think about America — better yet, the entire world and life as a whole, both yours and mine and his and hers — is equality the first word that comes to mind? Probably not.

Is it even in the top ten though? Again, probably not — not if you’ve been paying anything even remotely resembling attention for the last three hundred years or eternity or so, anyway.

People who view themselves as better than the rest of us want us to believe they believe we’re equals. They don’t see us as equal to them — however, they have to believe we’ve been granted an equal amount of opportunities of equal value in life.

They need to believe we all started on equal playing fields. This allows them to view how drastically our current lots in life differ, as a personal accomplishment and as a definitive indicator of their pure and undeniable awesomeness.

You know the type. They view ten-million-dollar checks from their parents as “small loans from their Fathers”.
