I disagree, though I get what you’re saying, I think it is what it is can come from an almost stoic like place. A way of acknowledging, what happened can’t be changed — so there’s no sense in complaining about it — and let’s move forward.

However, I see how it could be used by chronic defeatists everywhere, as a mantra before giving up.
