I’m not at all familiar with gaming as an industry but what you described doesn’t sound unfamiliar or completely unlike what is happening here. Don’t get me wrong, money can be made. It just all feels very capped and directed toward specific writers who are handpicked by Medium’s editors, rather than readers.

But I’ll be here writing regardless, even if it ends up being mostly stuff I published elsewhere first, in due time.
