Thank you Maureen and no worries. For starters, as you may have noticed, many other women who commented on this post also projected their past experiences and biases onto me. At least you worded yours kindly and respectfully and you also had the self awareness to recognize as much. No apologies necessary but it is appreciated.
Also, being the line seemed to bother more than a few people, here's what I was really trying to say with the whole favorite writer and favorite reader line....
I was simply expressing my desire to find someone who truly understands me on a deep and personal level, as much of my writing is very personal, that's it.
I have never,IRL, forced my writing on a friend or lover...in fact I've never so much as asked one to read something I've written. So the idea some of the women who commented thinking I need a partner who reads my work to the point I'm placed above literary greats is laughable. Every part of my piece was wrongly misconstrued and over analyzed. My theory is Medium pushed it to readers they thought would be bothered by it, and were right. Because nothing I have written in the last year has received as much as attention, I don't get it.
Sorry for the novel haha, thanks again.
