The Life-Changing Freedom of Taking Your Power Back

When I was in Middle school I noticed the so-called bullies were usually just loud boisterous idiots who carefully hand-picked targets who wouldn’t stand up for themselves. My favorite moments were when they eventually approached the wrong kid, on the wrong day, and in the wrong way.

While I’m not advocating or glorifying violence by any means, I am expressing my disgust and contempt for those who not only prey on those who they deem weaker, simply to make themselves feel better about their own shitty lives — but are the same cowards who always end up being the first one to stand down when someone stands up. Literally, all it takes, or at least it’s all it took for me to make my way through the Philadelphia public school system, mostly unscathed. Well, at least physically.

Bullying shows up in a lot of different forms, especially as we get older. Unfortunately, some people only get older and never actually grow. Not mentally, spiritually, emotionally professionally, or personally.

While yes, we have no control over other people's actions and should always be in control of our responses to them rather than slaves to our often irrational reactions — we do always have a choice not to accept and metaphorically cosign their shady and sheisty bullshit shenanigans either.
